"We are what we eat", as the saying goes. We need top-quality "fuel" in order for our babies to function properly and to produce healthy eggs or sperm. In other words, good nutrition is essential for good health.

The food we eat has an impact on every cell in our bodies. Eating healthily can help woman to conceive and give birth to a healthy baby and consequently; women require healthy eating.

Good nutrition for men helps ensure healthy sperm and sexual activity. Poor nutrition in woman can lead to fertility problems as highlighted by birth-rate studies during famines. In fact, the inability to reproduce can be one of the first signs of imperfect nutrition. This vital link between nutrition and foetal development has been researched by a number of scientists. Thework of Isobel Jennings, weston Price, EJ Underwood Donald Oberleas, Donald Caldwell, Lucille Hurley, Bert Vallee, and many others has drawn attention to the role played by a lack of nutrients in reproductive problems under experimental conditions.

Such studies have found that, in many cases, almost all the commonly seen birth defects can be reduced or eliminated by changing the diet. It is advised by experts that couples start putting good nutrition into practice at least four months-the longer, the better-before trying to conceive. This will at least give the body a chance to correct any nutritional deficiencies. This four-month "minimum" period is also recommended because it takes at least three months for men to produce a new batch of sperm and women's eggs to mature, ready for ovulation.
